Two unlikely candidates inspired my passion for writing: Star Trek (shudder) and Piers Anthony. The former I became obsessed with as a child - to the point of writing my own episodes on a scrappy 8.5x11' PenTab tablet; the latter I discovered when I was fourteen and had to do a book report for English class. Anthony's Phthor had somehow made it onto the list of acceptable books, and I was thrilled with the dark, somber scenery of Chthon. This led to a renewed interest in writing, which spawned much of the 'early work' you'll find here - and I haven't stopped since. I've written as 'A.J. Thompson' for Anotherealm, Aphelion, Deep Magic, Demensions, ShadowKeep, and Sword's Edge, to name a few. As for future plans, I hope that I can continue doing just what I'm doing: writing stories that are hopefully meaningful and which might bring something into the world that was not there before.
I heard something about this earlier in the year, the idea that all California vehicles would benefit from the inclusion of "black box" type installations (just like we have on commercial aircraft). Then it was a safety gimmick; now it's a sensationalist idea to supposedly generate more revenue for new roads-to say nothing of the privacy concerns.
The hybrid/electric drivers are particularly peeved. And cyclists? Hangliders? Rollerbladers? Should they pay their fair share as well?
Ooh, if only George Orwell were still around! It will be interesting to see how this pans out.
Hey, thanks for the greeting. I'm still settling in, waiting for the Writing section to be implemented so I can start submitting stuff. LOL Lots of good stuff to browse through in the meantime. ;)
